I was just heading off to bed, and I came across this on http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ and as I am too tired and to fashioned-out tonight to even try to string words about it together, I'll leave it to Sydney's Tele to tell their story below.
All I can say is that Australian designers try SO hard to make a mark of fashion integrity on the world - Collette Dinnigan, ksubi, Akira, Jayson Brunsdon, Romance Was Born, Willow, Zimmermann, Alex Perry, Ginger & Smart, Alice McCall et al _ to be innovative and create a signature that could represent our country internationally.
And this is what will represent Australia -an outfit fit for a showgirl.
Hand me my chamomile and get me to my pillow. Now.
Here's the Tele's story:
"DESIGNER-to-the-stars Ruth Tarvydas has unveiled the dress that Miss Universe Australia Rachael Finch will wear at the international contest - and it is sure to divide opinions.
There wasn't a corkscrew hat in sight as Rachael Finch unveiled the national costume she will wear when she takes on beauties from around the world at the international pageant in the Bahamas next month. The dress has been dubbed "Sunset Over the Opera House" and was designed to be representative of Australia. Tell us what you think of the dress in the feedback form below, and vote here.

It features a silver sequined bodice; a leg-revealing skirt in shades of tangerine, melon and pink; flashes of flesh and a lace-up back.

The revealing dress almost led to a wardrobe malfunction during last night's unveiling when Finch came close to showing a little bit more skin than she wanted while walking down a set of stairs. Tarvydas was the designer behind Rebecca Twigley's headline-grabbing red carpet moment at the Brownlows in 2004, and Jessica Bratich's spotlight stealing arrival at the Allan Border Medal Count in February.
Finch said she was impressed by the outfit. "My goodness that woman is magnificent," the beauty queen said of the designer.''
So, what do you think?

Cue..."Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl". Is the designer seeking a career in Vegas? Cringe worthy concoction with echoes of Jennifer Hawkins' earlier gown. Alex Perry, J'Aton, collette, where are you all?
