For those into fashion magazine industry news, the ravishing raven-headed Glynis Traill-Nash, (pictured, and who has been the fashion editor at Fairfax's Sydney Sun Herald newspaper for the last three years) will be joining the team as the Fashion Features Director at Grazia magazine.
With a declaration of interest here - in amongst some of my working roles, I am a regular contributor to the fashion celebrity news weekly magazine - GTN (as she is known) will take over from Edwina McCann, who has scored the gig of editing Harper's Bazaar mag and will be working with Grazia editor-in-chief, Alison Veness-McGourty.
With so much talk of doom and gloom in the media industry - and yes indeed, the advertising buck is getting harder to come by and with no ad buck comes limited editorial space _ at the end of the day, interesting content, in every form of the media, will always be king. Glynis will bring an informed and credible reputation to the magazine. Actually, I happened to catch up with GTN today for quite awhile, at a meet-and-greet, for the Project Runway contestants. And yes, she did seem remarkably upbeat . . . . Mmmmmm, so the new gig was one of the reasons she was putting out such a positive vibe!
Apropos of John Hartigan's very interesting talk to the Press Club in Canberra yesterday - he's the boss of News Limited for those who don't know the intricacies of the newspaper world - and you can catch his words on-line at http://www.news.com.au/) it is people who HAVE expertise, integrity and good reputations in their fields of journalism who should survive the media landscape and who want to read by their followers and fans.
But let's hope that not all credible journalists leave newspapers, especially if he wants to keep that media dream alive . . .
